Introduction To Improv Quilting Workshop - 6 Hours

Step into the playful, freeing world of intuitive, no‑rules quilting! In this lively introductory workshop, you’ll discover the art of improv quilting—where rulers are optional, creativity leads the way, and every scrap has the potential to shine. It’s all about play, discovery, inspiration and imagination.

If you love working with scraps, chances are you’ve already dabbled in improvisation without even realizing it. This class helps you lean into that instinct, building confidence as you explore techniques that celebrate spontaneity and personal expression.

Together, we’ll experiment with a variety of improv approaches, including:

  • Wonky      Piecing – Create delightfully off‑kilter log cabins, stars, and flying      geese that feel fresh and full of movement.
  • Curve      Piecing – Learn to sew smooth, flowing curves without rulers or      templates.
  • Abstract      Composition – Shift your focus to color, negative space, and shape,      letting go of traditional block rules.

If time allows, we’ll also explore improvisation with a gentle structure, such as repeating a specific shape or working within a color theme—perfect for quilters who enjoy a balance of freedom and intention.

Ready to loosen up, try something new, and turn cherished fabric scraps into bold abstract quilts or wall hangings? This workshop is all about play, discovery, and creative confidence. Let go of perfectionism, trust your instincts, and enjoy the freedom of making without rules. Come curious—and leave inspired.
